Our Services
Quadrant Motorcycles provides classic and modern-classic motorcycle restoration, reconditioning and recommissioning from our workshop in Donington, East Midlands. From individual engine and chassis work through to complete restoration projects, our services are built around an engineering-led approach, clear scopes and keeping customers informed as the work develops.
Why “from”?
No two restoration projects are the same.
A straightforward engine in good underlying condition is fundamentally different from one with seized fasteners, damaged threads, worn crankcases or decades of previous repairs. The same applies to motorcycle chassis.
Our starting prices give you a realistic minimum indication of the scale of the work, rather than an artificially low headline price followed by surprises later.
Where additional work is identified, we'll explain what we've found and agree the way forward with you before undertaking work outside the agreed scope.
Restoration Without Surprises.
Not sure which service your motorcycle needs? Start with the Motorcycle Health Check.
* Health Check Project Credit: £150 credit applies against the final invoice for a qualifying project with a minimum labour value of £1,000 commissioned within 90 days of the Health Check. One credit per motorcycle. No cash alternative. Credit applies to labour and cannot be used against parts or third-party services.

Know what you have before deciding what to do next.
Whether you've recently bought a motorcycle, are considering a restoration, or simply want to understand the condition of a bike you already own, the Quadrant Motorcycle Health Check provides a structured, engineering-led assessment of its current condition.
We inspect the motorcycle across its major mechanical and electrical systems, including engine, fluids, battery and charging system, fuel and cooling systems, brakes, tyres, wheel bearings, steering-head bearings, suspension, swingarm, controls, final drive, electrical equipment and chassis.
Where appropriate, the assessment includes a compression test with individual cylinder pressures and percentage variation recorded, together with battery resting, cranking and charging measurements.
We'll also check the motorcycle's registration status and identification details against information available to us — particularly useful for older projects where the history or current registration status isn't clear.
Your bike. Your questions.
Every motorcycle is different. If there's a noise you don't like, something you've been told about the bike, a modification you're unsure of, or simply something that doesn't feel right, tell us.
Any specific questions, doubts or concerns you have can be included within the assessment.
Following the inspection you'll receive a completed condition report, including recorded measurements where applicable, observations and recommendations prioritised as:
No Action Identified · Monitor / Maintenance · Recommended Work · Priority Attention
The Health Check is a condition assessment rather than a detailed restoration quotation. Dismantling, specialist diagnostic work and detailed parts research are not included. Any broad budgetary guidance provided is indicative only.

More than cleaning what you can see.
Old fuel, varnish and contamination can accumulate inside the small internal passages of a carburettor, often in areas that conventional external cleaning cannot reach.
Quadrant offers professional ultrasonic carburettor cleaning for classic and modern-classic motorcycle carburettors.
Carburettors are dismantled as required before appropriate components are ultrasonically cleaned, rinsed, dried and visually inspected prior to reassembly.
Ultrasonic cleaning is particularly effective for removing contamination from internal galleries, jets and difficult-to-access areas without relying on aggressive mechanical cleaning.
Single carb — from £75
Twin carbs — from £125
Three/four-carb bank — from £195
Replacement gaskets, O-rings, seals, jets, needles, floats and other components are additional where required.
Cleaning does not correct mechanical wear. Worn slides, bodies, jets, needles, shafts or damaged components will be identified where apparent and recommendations made before additional work is undertaken.
Carburettor Reconditioning
For carburettors requiring more than cleaning, we can provide a more comprehensive rebuild using replacement service components as required, followed by appropriate initial setup.
Final balancing, mixture adjustment and tuning on the motorcycle are quoted separately.
-
Give original components another life.
Where appropriate, original components can often be cleaned and refinished rather than unnecessarily replaced.
Quadrant uses controlled vibratory finishing to clean suitable small components such as gears, fasteners, brackets, spacers and other parts, removing surface corrosion, oxidation and accumulated contamination.
The process uses specialist abrasive media to work across the component surface and into areas that are difficult or time-consuming to clean manually.
It is particularly useful during engine, gearbox and chassis rebuilds where retaining serviceable original components is desirable.
Small Parts Cleaning & Finishing — from £45
Components are assessed for suitability before processing. The process is intended for cleaning and surface preparation and does not repair pitting, wear, dimensional damage or structural deterioration.
-
Treat the corrosion. Preserve the tank.
Internal corrosion is common in classic motorcycle fuel tanks, particularly after extended periods of storage.
Quadrant uses a controlled chemical rust-conversion process to treat and stabilise internal corrosion without applying an internal tank liner or sealant.
Unlike abrasive DIY methods involving loose nuts, bolts or other media, chemical treatment can reach seams, recesses and difficult internal surfaces without relying on aggressive mechanical removal of the surrounding material.
The aim is to retain and preserve a structurally sound original tank, while reducing the loose rust and active corrosion that can contaminate fuel systems.
This service is a corrosion treatment — it is not a tank-sealing or lining process.
Where inspection identifies pinholes, significant metal loss, previous liner failure or a tank that would benefit from sealing, we'll discuss the available options separately before undertaking further work.
From £195

Available following assessment
For tanks where an internal liner is appropriate, Quadrant can also provide a separate internal tank-sealing service.
Tank sealing is not automatically included or recommended with rust treatment. We assess the tank first and only recommend a liner where there is a reason to use one.
The tank is appropriately prepared before a specialist fuel-resistant internal coating is applied.
Price following tank assessment.

Put it away properly.
Long periods of storage can be particularly hard on classic and infrequently used motorcycles. Our Winterisation service prepares your motorcycle for storage with the aim of protecting the fuel system, engine, battery, tyres and other components while the bike is off the road.
Depending on the motorcycle and its intended storage period, the service includes preparation of the fuel system, engine and fluids, battery condition and charging arrangements, tyre pressures, lubrication of appropriate controls and exposed components, corrosion protection and a general visual inspection before storage.
For classic motorcycles, the preparation is tailored to the machine. Carburetted fuel systems, vented tanks, older electrical systems and different engine designs don't always benefit from a one-size-fits-all approach.
The motorcycle is supplied back with a record of the work carried out and recommendations for storage and subsequent recommissioning.
From £225 + oils, fluids and consumables

Put it away properly. Be ready when the season starts.
Combine our Winterisation service with a pre-booked Spring Recommissioning and we'll prepare your motorcycle for storage now, then bring it back into service ready for the riding season.
Winterisation is tailored to the motorcycle and can include fuel-system preparation, fluids, battery care, tyre pressures, lubrication, corrosion protection and appropriate storage preparation.
When spring arrives, we'll recommission the motorcycle, checking battery and charging condition, fluids and leaks, tyres, controls, brakes, fuel system and starting/running condition before completing our final workshop checks.
Don't miss the start of the season.
Spring is traditionally when workshops get busy. By booking the combined package, your spring recommissioning workshop slot is reserved in advance.
No waiting for availability when the first good weekend arrives. Your bike already has its place in the diary.

For engines that need rebuilding, not necessarily restoring.
Our Engine Recondition package provides the mechanical work required to take an engine from complete assembly through strip, inspection and rebuild.
The engine is stripped to component level, cleaned sufficiently for inspection, and critical components are inspected and measured before reassembly.
New bearings, seals, gaskets and service components are used as required, together with pistons, rings, valves and other internal components where inspection and measurement determine replacement is necessary.
The aim is straightforward: return the engine to sound mechanical condition without charging for cosmetic restoration that isn't required.
From £995 + parts
The starting price applies to suitable engines requiring a conventional rebuild and is not a fixed-price quotation. Parts, machining, crankshaft work, welding, thread repairs, specialist engineering and repairs arising from damage, excessive wear or previous work are additional.
Engine removal/refitting and final motorcycle commissioning are not included and can be quoted separately.
-
Mechanical rebuilding with the finish to match.
Our Engine Restoration package combines the mechanical work of the Engine Recondition with cosmetic restoration of appropriate engine components.
The engine is stripped, inspected and rebuilt as above, with suitable components additionally prepared and vapour blasted to restore the external finish.
This is intended for restoration projects where the appearance of the finished engine matters as much as its mechanical condition.
From £1,295 + parts
Parts, machining, specialist engineering, repairs, engine removal/refitting and final motorcycle commissioning are additional.
-
Rebuild the motorcycle underneath the paintwork.
Our Chassis Recondition package is aimed at motorcycles requiring a comprehensive mechanical chassis overhaul without the cost of full cosmetic restoration.
The chassis is stripped and its principal systems assessed before being rebuilt and commissioned. Depending on the motorcycle, this can include steering, suspension, swingarm, wheel installation, brakes, controls, final drive and associated chassis components.
Bearings, seals, brake components, suspension components and other replacement parts are supplied as required and charged separately.
Once assembled, the chassis is set up, adjusted and checked as a complete system.
From £1,750 + parts
Specialist repairs and refinishing are additional unless specifically included within the agreed scope.
-
A mechanically rebuilt chassis with the cosmetic restoration to match.
The Chassis Restoration package builds on our Chassis Recondition service by adding specialist preparation and refinishing of appropriate chassis components.
The package includes vapour blasting where appropriate and powder coating in standard colours, before the chassis is rebuilt and commissioned.
It provides the restored mechanical and structural foundation for a complete motorcycle restoration.
From £2,495 + parts
Wheel building, specialist wheel refurbishment, chrome/plating and whole-vehicle, fuel-tank or bodywork 2K paintwork are not included and can be scoped separately.
